Senator Shehu Sani has claimed that the Justices sitting on the 2023 Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) will read a statement that has been written for them.
Sani, a human rights activist also stated that his claim was not a speculative or preemptive fiction.
“Though we live in a country of mysteries, magic, miracles and myths, it’s hard to believe that the respective Justices of the Presidential election tribunal will stoop to sacrifice their honour for someone to write the tribunal judgment for them to read like newscasters. The story is either speculative or preemptive fiction,” he wrote on X formerly Twitter.
The victory of Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress is challenged by Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and Peter Obi of the Labour Party.
The two opposition leaders claimed that the election that produced Tinubu was marred by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
They claimed that irregularities in documenting and transmitting results from the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV) did not reflect the true polls garnered by each candidate.
They also noted that Tinubu did not score the mandatory 25%of votes in the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria.
Chronicle NG reports that the presidential election was held on February 23 and INEC declared Tinubu winner of the polls. He was sworn in as president on May 29.
The PEPT justices are expected to give a judgment on their findings and many fear that if it is not favourable to the present government it could unsettle Nigeria that is battling with inflation, poverty and instability.
