Crystal Palace fired manager Patrick Vieira on Friday after 20 months in charge, following a 1-0 defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion that left them three points above the relegation zone.
Palace is the only Premier League team yet to win a game in 2023, having drawn five and lost six.
Their last league victory came on December 31, when they defeated Bournemouth 2-0, and they currently sit 12th in the league with 27 points after 11 games.
“This difficult decision has been made with great regret,” Crystal Chairman Steve Parish said.
“Recent results have put us in a perilous league position, and we felt a change was required to give us the best chance of retaining Premier League status.”
Former France international Vieira, who captained Arsenal to three league titles and four FA Cups as a player, took over from Roy Hodgson in July 2021 on a three-year contract.
