    Gunmen kill 16 in fresh attack in Plateau

    An attack by gunmen has left no fewer than 16 people killed in Mushu village in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

    Sixteen people were slain at Mushu village, Bokkos Local Government Area, Plateau State.

    Captain Oya James, a spokesperson for Operation Safe Haven, a multi-security unit tasked with keeping calm in the state, confirmed the attack by the gunmen.

    He added that “following the attack, security personnel were deployed to prevent any breakdown of law and order in the area.

    There was an uprising after the incident, but the situation has been brought under control.”

    Speaking on the attack, Governor Caleb Mutfwang condemned the incident, describing the attack as barbaric, brutal, and uncalled for.

    According to a statement issued by the Governor’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, the governor urged security services to apprehend the perpetrators of the terrible act and bring them to justice.

    According to Bare, the governor was deeply concerned about the event and urged residents across the state to be watchful, reporting any suspicious activity to security officials for swift action.

    He questioned the perpetrators’ impunity for causing harm to people, destroying property, and fleeing prosecution.

    He said on “the importance of collective collaboration among rural communities, the governor assured that proactive measures will be taken by the government to curb the ongoing attacks on innocent citizens.

    ”He sympathized with affected families and urged them to find solace in God as the government diligently works to end the prolonged violence.”
