TB Joshua: YouTube shuts down Emmanuel TV over sexual assault allegations

Reason Multichoice removed TB Joshua’s Emmanuel TV from platforms

Emmanuel TV, the main channel maintained by Prophet TB Joshua, the late founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), has been removed from YouTube due to claims against the late speaker.

Emmanuel TV broadcasts the church’s religious activities.

This follows the British Broadcasting Corporation’s (BBC) sensational documentary broadcasts about TB Joshua’s alleged torture and rape.

OpenDemocracy found and reported over 50 offensive films on the video platform that amplify harassment against Joshua’s accusers.

YouTube said, “The flagged channel was terminated for violating our hate speech policies.”

YouTube has anti-cyberbullying and harassment standards in place, which specifically prohibit harassment of sexual violence survivors.

Recall that the BBC World Service, in collaboration with openDemocracy, broadcast a three-part documentary earlier this month in which whistleblowers who were once senior members of SCOAN went on the record with allegations of sexual and psychological torture, financial fraud, and criminal negligence against Joshua.

As part of the response against these abuse survivors, SCOAN-related YouTube accounts broadcast and uploaded historical video footage depicting some of these whistleblowers’ experiences as church members.

These videos, shot originally by the church’s Emmanuel TV media department, featured some of the ladies who took part in the investigative documentary.
