Saif Ali Khan, an Indian Bollywood actor, underwent surgery on Thursday after being repeatedly stabbed during a suspected burglary at his Mumbai home, according to his public relations staff.
Khan, 54, has acted in over 70 films and television programs and is married to Bollywood diva Kareena Kapoor.
“There was an attempted burglary at Mr. Saif Ali Khan’s residence,” his team said, urging “fans to be patient.”
Kapoor told local media that “Saif had an injury on his arm for which he is in the hospital.”
“The rest of the family is doing fine,” she added.
He is the son of Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, the former Indian cricket captain, and Sharmila Tagore, the Bollywood actress.
His acting credits include the 2001 smash Dil Chahta Hai and the popular Netflix crime drama Sacred Games.
Niraj Uttamani, a top administrator at Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital, informed The Hindustan Times that the actor had six injuries, two of which were severe.
The Press Trust of India news agency transmitted footage of police conducting forensic investigations at his Mumbai home.
