66th Grammy Awards: Ayra Starr expresses enthusiasm, hope to win

Nigerian Afrobeat singer Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, well known as Ayra Starr, has revealed her enthusiasm and preparation for the 2024 Grammy Awards ceremony.

In an interview with Cool FM Lagos, Ayra Starr revealed her enthusiasm for the 66th Grammy Awards, where her smash single ‘Rush’ has been nominated for Best African Song Performance.

The singer revealed that she meticulously planned every aspect of her participation in the prestigious event, from her costume and walk to her acceptance speech.

When asked by OAP Dotun about her readiness, Ayra Starr stated that she was fully prepared for the Grammy Awards ceremony.

She reiterated her commitment to the event, where she is a first-time nominee among Nigerian music legends Davido, Asake, and Olamide, as well as South Africa’s Tyla, with Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy rounding out the exclusive category.

When asked what she planned to do after winning the Grammy, Ayra Starr joked about going to her favourite Chinese restaurant to eat.

The singer revealed that after this, she intends to video contact her mother to share the good news.

“I have a speech. I have already finished everything. “I already know my walk and my outfit,” Ayra explained.

The singer also stated that if she does not win this year, she has already planned her wardrobe and acceptance speech for the 2025 edition and future years.

The 66th Grammy Awards will take place on February 5 at the Crypto Arena in Los Angeles, with South African comedian Trevor Noah hosting the prestigious event.
