Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced that it will suspend train operations on the Abuja-Kaduna rail line following an attack on the rail road by bandits.
The NRC on Tuesday explained that it would provide further communication on when it would resume commercial activities.
“Dear passengers, due to unforeseen circumstances, Train operations along the Abuja-Kaduna route has been temporarily suspended,” a tweet on the NRC official account said.
Adding that, “Further communication would be given in due course.”
Chronicle NG had reported that over 900 passengers were trapped following an attack that immobilised the train and rail lines.
The attack occurred between Katari and Rijana.
The passengers, about 970 of them, reportedly laid flat on the floor of the train as the bandits shot sporadically.
