RedBird Capital, an American investment company, has completed a deal to purchase AC Milan from Elliott Advisors. The transaction values AC Milan, the reigning Serie A champions, at €1.2 billion (£1 billion). The deal calls for Yankee Global Enterprises, owners of the New York Yankees baseball team, to purchase a small share in the squad. The most popular regional sports network in the country, the Yankees Entertainment Sports (YES) Network, is co-owned by RedBird. Kano building collapse

The three-storey building that collapsed at the Beirut GSM market in the Kano metropolis has claimed at least two lives. According to Musa Abdullahi, the secretary of the Nigerian Red Cross Society in Kano, an employee of the Kano Electricity Distribution Company was also electrocuted while helping to rescue the victims. He said the official died while trying to cut the electric supply into the collapsed building but the power from the transformer accidentally relayed back, killing him. Gas halted across Europe

Russia has completely halted gas supplies to Europe via a major pipeline, saying repairs are needed. The Nord Stream 1 pipeline will be restricted for the next three days, according to Russian state-owned oil company Gazprom. Russia had already significantly cut back on pipeline-based gas shipments. It also denies claims that energy supplies were used to penalise Western countries for enacting sanctions in response to the invasion of Ukraine.
