Tanzania has scrapped unpopular banking and mobile money transaction fees imposed last year amid public outcry. Finance Minister Mwigulu Nchemba told lawmakers the charges were abolished following a directive by President Samia Suluhu Hassan. The move affects charges for transactions from bank accounts to mobile money accounts, transactions within the same bank, and transactions from one bank to another. The death penalty has been abolished in Equatorial Guinea, according to a new criminal code signed by President Teodoro Obiang, state media has reported. The last execution in the country took place eight years ago. A 24-year-old man infected with Ebola has died in central Uganda in a fresh outbreak confirmed by health officials. The country’s health minister has told journalists that the victim had exhibited symptoms before succumbing to the disease. The Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA said it has made what appears to be the biggest cocaine bust in Nigeria’s history. Some 1.8 tons (1,855 kg) of cocaine estimated to be worth more than $278m (£243m) or over N194.77b on the black market were discovered in a warehouse in the Ikorodu area, north-east of the commercial hub, Lagos.
