An Ikeja High Court on Tuesday sentenced a deposed Baale of Shangisha in Magodo area of Lagos, Mutiu Ogundare, to 15 years imprisonment for faking his own kidnap. Justice Hakeem Oshodi sentenced Ogundare following his conviction on a two-count bordering on breach of peace and fake kidnapping. Two people are presumed dead in Enugu State after an attack by unknown gunmen on Tuesday morning. The gunmen attacked an Army checkpoint on the Obeagu-Amodu road in Enugu South Local Government Area of Enugu State, according to reports. Department of State Service (DSS) operatives have arrested a soldier attached to the Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment in Tungan-Maje in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for allegedly hiring out and selling guns to kidnappers. The bodies of 71 migrants have been found after the boat they were travelling in sank off Syria’s coast, the health minister has said. The boat, carrying more than 100 people, set off from Lebanon and was heading to Europe. Twenty survivors are being treated in a hospital in the Syrian city of Tartus.
