According to a report released on Thursday by the Gideon and Funmi Para-Mallam Peace Foundation, at least 346 people have been killed in eight local government areas of Plateau State in the last three months.

According to the organization, as of Saturday, July 8, 2023, over 200 lives had been killed to ongoing violent attacks in the Mangu LGA alone.

Rev. Dr. Gideon Para-Mallam, the Foundation’s Founder and Executive Director, stated in a report acquired by newsmen in Abuja that the deaths occurred between April 17 and July 10, 2023.

He went on to say that there were currently 18,751 internally displaced people in 14 camps in Plateau State.

According to Para-Mallam, a peace advocate, 17 persons were slain in Bokkos: 234 in Mangu, 39 in Barkin Ladi, 36 in Riyom, 5 in Jos North, 9 in Mikang, and 1 in Bassa.

He stated that the Church of Christ in the Nations Local Church Councils host 14 IDP camps, and that the IDPs are divided as follows: 2,081 widows, 6,066 orphans between the ages of 0 and 5 years old.

According to the activist, 1,057 of the fatalities were elderly, while 828 were youths and adult orphans.

According to him, the devastating attacks affected a total of 6,603 families.

While emphasizing that the current harvest of deaths in the Mangu LGA must be dealt with the utmost urgency, Para-Mallam stated that the Federal Government’s incapacity to tame the killings suggested turning a blind eye while the current inhumanity continued.

He said, “Take it or leave it, a foundation for full-blown nation-wide terrorism is being laid. No country should localise and allow acts of terror on its citizens. “Whatever the motivation behind these attacks on the Plateau, the fact remains that people are being killed in their hundreds.

“The burden of these killings should not rest only on the shoulders of the new Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Muftwang. The burden should not also rest only on the shoulders of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“In fact, the burden rests on the shoulders of all Nigerians”.
