Election: UNIBEN students to vacate hostels ahead of Saturday’s poll

UNIBEN: Fire guts female hostel

Prof. Lilian Salami, Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), has directed all students residing on campus to vacate the hostels by noon on Wednesday (February 22), to participate in the upcoming general elections.

Mr. Ademola Bobola, the institution’s registrar, issued the directive in a press statement yesterday.

The registrar said: “In compliance with the directive of the Federal Government, as conveyed vide the circular from the National Universities Commission (NUC), dated 3rd February 2023, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Lilian I. Salami, has directed that the university be closed for academic activities between Wednesday, February 22 and Tuesday, March 14.

“Normal academic activities will resume on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.

The vice chancellor and the university’s management enjoin all students to conduct themselves peacefully during the period of the general elections, and wish them safe travels all through.”
