Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s visit to the residence of Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate was not a political visit, the media aide of the former has said.
Laolu Akande, the spokesperson to Prof. Osinbajo explained that the two men discussed a number of national issues.
Chronicle NG had reported on Prof. Osinbajo paid a visit to Tinubu’s residence and was received by the APC presidential candidate and vice-presidential candidate, Kashim Shettima.
In a post by Akande, the meeting was a “friendly visit” as this was part of the Vice President’s Christmas tradition.
“Vice President Yemi Osinbajo stopped by for a friendly visit at the Abuja residence of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu just now,” he said in his first post.
This was followed by another. “At the meeting, VP and Asiwaju exchanged pleasantries in the spirit of the season. And in response to media inquiries whether this was a political meeting, it was not,” he added.
Shortly after the visit, some media platforms speculated that Osinbajo pledged loyalty to Tinubu without stating what was specifically said at the meeting.
According to a source close to the meeting, both men discussed a number of domestic issues. “They discussed many issues, in fact, they had a closed-door meeting, just the two of them and at that point we do not even know what was discussed.
Chronicle NG reports that Osinbajo served as attorney general and commissioner of justice in Lagos state when Tinubu was the two-term governor of the state.
