Nigeria announces 999 new coronavirus cases

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced 999 confirmed new coronavirus cases in the country on Tuesday.

The 999 cases announced by the Centre for Disease Control takes the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 79,789.

The NCDC also announced the discharge of 396 patients from isolation centers across the country with four new deaths reported.

The Federal Capital Territory recorded the highest number of positive cases for the day with 416 new cases.

Lagos state, the epicentre of the virus in Nigeria reported 324 new confirmed cases taking the total number of confirmed cases in Lagos alone to 27,091.

Kaduna state recorded 68 new cases, Plateau state reported 42, Kwara state had 32, Kano reported 24 while Gombe announced 14 new cases.

Other states are Sokoto-12, Yobe-12, Akwa Ibom-11, Bayelsa-10, Rivers-7, Bauchi-7, Ogun-6, Oyo-5, Edo-4, Taraba-4 and Jigawa-1.

NCDC reports that there are 79,789 cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria with 68,879 discharged and 1,231 deaths.
