Nigeria announces 627 new coronavirus cases

Lassa fever claims 162 lives - NCDC

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 627 confirmed new coronavirus cases in the country on Friday.

The 627 cases announced by the Centre for Disease Control takes the total number of confirmed cases to 15181.

The NCDC also announced the discharge of 143 patients from isolation centers across the country with 12 new deaths reported.

Lagos state, the epicentre of the virus in Nigeria topped the number of confirmed cases with 229 new cases taking the total number of confirmed cases in Lagos alone to 6840.

The Federal Capital Territory recorded 65 new cases while Abia reported 54 and Borno  state 42 cases.

Other states are Oyo-35, Rivers-28, Edo-28, Gombe-27, Ogun-21, Plateau-18, Delta-18, Bauchi-10, Kaduna-10, Benue-9, Ondo-8, Kwara-6, Nasarawa-4, Enugu-4, Sokoto-3, Niger-3, Kebbi-3, Yobe-1 and Kano-1.

NCDC reports that there are 15181 cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria with 4351 discharged and 399 deaths.
