The US President Donald Trump administration has withdrawn former Vice President Kamala Harris’s Secret Service security protection, a White House official said Friday.

The government terminated an extension approved by then-President Joe Biden for the lost Democratic presidential candidate, Harris, whose six-month tenure of protection as ex-VP ended on July 21, according to CNN.

A senior aide to the former Vice President expressed gratitude to the US Secret Service for their professionalism, dedication, and commitment to safety.

Harris, who has kept a low profile since losing the election, will go on tour this autumn to promote a book about her failed presidential bid. This trip will require her to make frequent public appearances.

Harris’s inside look at her short presidential candidacy against Trump is titled “107 Days”.

Simon & Schuster will distribute the memoir on September 23 in the United States.

Harris, the first female vice president, became the Democratic nominee after Joe Biden withdrew due to cognitive health issues.

Harris promised a “behind-the-scenes account” of the campaign in her book, which she wrote with “candour and reflection”.

Since taking office in January, Trump has targeted perceived foes and political opponents.

He has deprived other officials and former officials of their security clearances, attacked legal firms involved in previous litigation against him, and withheld federal funds from colleges.

Last week, FBI investigators raided the home and office of former national security advisor John Bolton, one of Trump’s harshest critics, in an investigation suspected of involving confidential information.
