President Bola Tinubu has landed in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, to attend the Mission 300 Africa Energy Summit, which starts on January 27.

Amb. Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, Tanzania’s Foreign Minister, and Ambassador Salisu Suleiman, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Nigerian High Commission to Tanzania, welcomed the President, who arrived at 10:20 p.m. (8:20 p.m. Nigerian time).

The African Union, the World Bank Group, the African Development Bank Group, and the Tanzanian government are hosting the two-day conference.

Nigeria and other participating nations will present national energy policies, or “compacts,” outlining their plans to provide universal energy access within five years on the first day at the ministerial level.

The Dar es Salaam Energy Declaration, which lays out a cohesive plan for Africa’s advancement towards the Mission 300 goals, will be endorsed by heads of state on the second day.

In a national address, Tinubu will restate Nigeria’s dedication to attaining universal energy access and its position as the continent’s energy leader.

In order to promote integrated energy supply across the continent, Tinubu will also emphasise Nigeria’s continuing renewable energy projects and strategy.

The President was accompanied on the trip by Amb. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Mr. Adebayo Adelabu, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Minister of Power, Mr. Olu Verheijen, the Special Adviser to the President on Energy, and other high-ranking government officials.
