President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Fela Durotoye, a former presidential contender, to the Media and Publicity Directorate.

Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, announced this in a statement on Monday.

Durotoye, who ran as a presidential candidate under the Alliance for New Nigeria party in the 2019 presidential elections, has been named as the President’s Senior Special Assistant on National Values and Social Justice.

Also appointed alongside Durotoye is celebrated journalist and columnist Fredrick Nwabufo, who has been named Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Engagement.

Mrs. Linda Nwabuwa Akhigbe, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Engagement; Mr. Aliyu Audu, Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs; and Mr. Francis Adah Abah, Personal Assistant to the President on Special Duties have also been appointed to the Presidential Media Advisory Team.

Ngelale also stated that President Tinubu has approved the secondment of Mrs. Linda Nwabuwa Akhigbe to serve as the President of the ECOWAS Commission’s Communications Adviser.

He went on to say that the President has charged all new appointees in the Media & Publicity Directorate with upholding the highest standards of decorum and decency in their interactions with all members of the public as they advance the President’s determined bid to renew Nigerians’ hope in a restructured economy and unified society that caters adequately to the needs of all, regardless of differences.
