    Okada rider shot dead by policeman for overtaking patrol vehicle

    A commercial motorcyclist (Okada) has been shot dead on Tuesday evening by a policeman in Osogbo. The ‘Okada‘ rider had attempted to overtake the police patrol vehicle when the officer being trigger-happy, shot him and killed him.

    According to witnesses, the same team of policemen who commited the heinious crime also shot a private vehicle for not having a number plate.

    The unfortunate incident gave rise to a protest by other Okada riders in the area, who clamoured for justice.

    The protesters blocked major roads and burnt tyres at major junctions causing traffic to be diverted.

    The Osun state police command confirmed that they have been informed about the incident but were yet to come to conclusions about the murder.

    It was gathered that the body of the slain Okada rider was still at the scene many hours later.
