Sevilla have re-signed Croatia midfielder Ivan Rakitic from La Liga rivals Barcelona.

Europa League champions Sevilla said Rakitic had signed a four-year deal.

The 32-year-old, who was at Sevilla between January 2011 and June 2014 before joining Barca, won 13 trophies at the Nou Camp, including four La Liga titles and one Champions League crown.

A Barcelona statement read: “The Andalusian team will pay FC Barcelona 1.5m euros plus 9m in variables.”

Rakitic is leaving Barça after six glittering seasons, in which he has played a key role in winning no fewer than 13 titles including one Champions League and four La Liga titles.

He also won four Copa del Rey, one Club World Cup, one European Super Cup and two Spanish Super Cup.

The Swiss-born Croatian joined FC Barcelona from Sevilla in the summer of 2014, and wearing number 4 on his back, he quickly became a regular feature of the blaugrana midfield.

In fact, he has gone on to become the foreigner with the fourth most appearances ever for Barça, only topped by Leo Messi, Dani Alves and Javier Mascherano, and has the most appearances of all for a European foreigner.

Versatile, hard-working and an expert reader of the game, he is leaving the club after 310 competitive appearances, scoring 36 goals and giving 36 assists.

The most memorable of all was his goal in the 2015 Champions League Final in Berlin, the first of a 3-1 defeat of Juventus that earned the club the trophy for the fifth time.
