A former Super Eagles captain, Sunday Oliseh, has advised Victor Osimhen to go to the English Premier League as soon as possible or risk regretting a squandered opportunity.
The 1996 Olympic gold medallist took to social media on Wednesday to express his thoughts on the Nigerian forward’s transfer issue, amidst persistent speculation about his next destination.
“Victor Osimhen is at a very delicate crossroad.
“He needs to find his way to the Premier League in a hurry, or he risks so much regret! Man. United and Arsenal need this player if only….” Oliseh wrote on his X page.
Oliseh’s comments come as Osimhen’s predicted big-money move to the Premier League looks increasingly doubtful, despite his stellar goal-scoring record and decreased release clause.
Napoli have reduced their asking price for the 26-year-old to €75 million, although Premier League clubs have yet to make serious offers. Manchester United, which has long been connected with the striker, is now targeting Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, while Arsenal’s interest has waned due to other commitments.
According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Galatasaray has emerged as the front-runners for Osimhen’s signature, having submitted a formal offer and agreed on personal terms with him.
The Turkish heavyweights are negotiating with Napoli, but the Serie A club is demanding a full one-time payment of the €75 million clause.
According to reports, Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal is also monitoring the situation and has expressed willingness to meet financial obligations, but Osimhen prefers to remain in Europe.
In a YouTube video, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Manchester United’s chances of signing Osimhen were small from the start due to the player’s rigorous pay demands and satisfaction with life in Istanbul after a prior loan stay.
