Northern Ireland beat Group H champions Denmark 2-0 in their Euro 2024 qualifier at Windsor Park on Monday, capping off a dismal qualifying campaign with an outstanding performance in front of euphoric home fans.

Denmark ended top of the six-team group on 22 points, level with the Slovenians and 13 ahead of Northern Ireland, despite making seven changes to the starting lineup that won qualifying in a 2-0 win over runners-up Slovenia on Friday.

The home side had few chances on goal until Isaac Price capped their best move of the game with a clinical finish on the hour mark, putting the ball past Kasper Schmeichel after a slick passing sequence.

Dion Charles scored the second goal in the 81st minute, ghosting in at the back post to slam home replacement Conor McMenamin’s low ball across the box, giving his team its third victory of the season after two victories over San Marino.
