The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has finalised plans to install video assistance referees (VAR) at regional stadiums around the country, while plans to train and retrain referees are also in the works.
Malam Ibrahim Gusau, President of the Federation, revealed this on Saturday in Ilorin at the National Elective Delegates Conference of the Nigeria Referees’ Association (NRA).
Gusau, represented by an NFF official, Malam Muhammed Ameenu, challenged the association’s new leadership with developing development plans, forecasting, organising, and ensuring the future of Nigeria Referees is properly fostered and watered towards the progress of the game.
Gusau said that the installation of VAR is critical to the growth and development of football while emphasising the NFF’s unwavering support for the NRA in their goal to alter the face of football in the nation.
According to media sources, Malam Sani Zubair was elected to replace Otunba Tade Azeez after receiving 53 votes from the 54 certified delegates.
