Germany international Jamal Musiala has signed a new five-year contract with Bayern Munich, keeping him at the Bundesliga club until 2030.
The club confirmed the extension on Friday, securing the future of one of their most influential players.
Musiala, who joined Bayern’s youth system from Chelsea in 2019, has become a key figure in Vincent Kompany’s squad. This season, the 21-year-old midfielder has been in top form, scoring 10 goals in 18 league appearances.
Expressing his excitement about the new deal, Musiala said, “I am very happy. Bayern is one of the most important clubs in the world, this is where I took my first steps in professional football, and I am convinced that I can achieve great things with this club in the coming years.”
“I feel at home both in Munich and at the club with our great fans. We’ve got a lot of things we want to achieve. I’m excited for everything that’s to come.”
Since making his first-team debut, Musiala has played 132 Bundesliga matches and made 43 appearances in the Champions League, establishing himself as a crucial player for the German giants.
Bayern’s sporting director, Christian Freund, praised the midfielder’s talent and impact on the team, “Musiala always creates genius solutions with his outstanding ability on the pitch. That’s his gift. Despite his young age, he already holds a lot of responsibility. You can sense that he quickly absorbed the Bayern philosophy at the FC Bayern Campus. We’re delighted to be taking on our lofty goals with him in the coming years.”
Born in Stuttgart, Musiala represented England at youth level before committing to Germany’s national team in 2021. He scored his first international goal a year later and played a key role in EURO 2024, netting three goals in five matches.
His contract renewal follows Bayern’s recent extension with Alphonso Davies, strengthening the club’s long-term squad stability.
Bayern will now turn their attention to a crucial Bundesliga clash against title rivals Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday, as they aim to extend their lead at the top of the table.
