Real Madrid’s summer signing Jude Bellingham has made history by being named LaLiga Player of the Month.
On Thursday, Spain’s top-flight LaLiga announced that the gifted 20-year-old had been named the top player in the division for the month of August.
The England international completed a move to Real Madrid from Borussia Dortmund in a huge £113 million move in June.
With four goals and an assist in his first three games, Bellingham has started brilliantly for the Spanish giants.
He netted in victories against Athletic Club and Almeria before scoring a late winner against Celta Vigo to help Carlo Ancelotti‘s men get a perfect start to the league campaign.
Bellingham becomes the first English player to win the award, beating the likes of Steve McManaman, Gary Lineker, Michael Owen, and Laurie Cunningham.
The former Birmingham City academy product is just the third player to score in his first three Los Blancos appearances, after Wesley Sneijder and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The midfielder has been in fine form since his move to Spain, with the 20-year-old scoring four times in five games for the LaLiga giants.
His most recent goal came in a 1-0 win over Celta Vigo on Friday night, with the England international scoring nine minutes from time.
Since then, Los Blancos stars have been sighted partying at Verde Beach Club on the French Riviera. Bellingham was joined in France by the likes of Brazil attacker Rodrygo and midfield partner Aurelien Tchouameni.
Ancelotti hailed his goal-scoring as he revealed the teenager has taken over for Karim Benzema, who left for Al-Ittihad this summer.
“We think the arrival of Jude Bellingham covers the absence of Benzema without creating too many parallels,” he said.
