Bryan Mbeumo’s last-minute equalizer secured a thrilling point for unbeaten Brentford as Bournemouth failed to record their first Premier League win under Andoni Iraola.
Brentford took an early lead when Mathias Jensen’s brilliant free kick caught Bournemouth keeper Neto off guard at the near post, but Dominic Solanke equalized before halftime by shooting through Ben Mee’s legs.
Substitute David Brooks’ first goal in the Premier League since recovering from Hodgkin’s cancer gave the Cherries the lead late in the second half, the Wales midfielder tapping home from close range after Rico Henry made a mistake.
Mbeumo had wasted a fantastic chance with the scores equal just after the break, but he made amends three minutes into injury time with a brilliant move and shot as he closed in on goal to capture his fourth of the season and give the home side a point.
For the home side, Kevin Schade, Yoane Wissa, and Keane Lewis-Potter all struck the crossbar, with the latter’s miss looking to be the most costly as the visitors went ahead through Brooks just seconds later.
Bournemouth were just minutes away from their first Premier League victory in eight games since beating Leeds 4-1 under previous manager Gary O’Neil on April 30, but they buckled in the final moments and have taken just two points from a possible 12 under Iraola.
