Barcelona’s LaLiga woes continued as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Getafe at Estadio Coliseum, extending their dismal league form to just one win in eight matches (D3, L4).

Fresh off Supercopa triumph and back-to-back Copa del Rey progressions, Barcelona looked sharp early and broke the deadlock swiftly.

Pedri’s perfectly threaded pass found Jules Koundé in a tight spot, and after his initial attempt was saved by David Soria, the Frenchman bundled home the rebound for his second goal in as many games.

Despite their dominance, the visitors failed to capitalize on their momentum. Raphinha squandered a chance to double the lead, heading Koundé’s cross into the side netting. That miss proved costly as Getafe struck back against the run of play.

La Masia graduate Carles Aleñá delivered a pinpoint cross that fell to Coba da Costa, whose cushioned shot was parried by Inaki Peña. However, Mauro Arambarri reacted quickest to slot home the rebound, leveling the score to the delight of the home crowd.

    • Why Neymar chose Barcelona over Real Madrid

Barcelona nearly reclaimed their lead before halftime, but Robert Lewandowski’s header across the face of goal eluded both Koundé and Ronald Araújo at the far post.

The second half saw Barcelona pressing for a winner, with 16-year-old Lamine Yamal impressively skipping past defenders only for his deflected shot to go wide. Despite maintaining pressure, the Catalans looked increasingly vulnerable to a Getafe counterattack. Djene came close to punishing them but skewed a first-time strike from a promising position.

Late chances came for Frenkie de Jong, whose fierce shot was palmed away, and Raphinha, who once again found the side netting. However, Barcelona failed to break down Getafe’s resilient defense.

The draw leaves Barcelona five points adrift of league leaders Atlético Madrid. With Real Madrid facing Las Palmas on Sunday, the Blaugrana risk falling further behind in the title race.

For Getafe, the result is a crucial boost in their fight against relegation, lifting them to 16th place and edging them further from the drop zone.
