Asisat Oshoala has been named the top scorer in the Chinese Women’s Super League

Nigerian international and Dalian Quanjian forward Asisat Oshoala has been named 2017’s best striker by the Chinese Women’s Super League.

Oshoala’s award crowns a successful season at her club which won the Chinese Women’s Super Cup on Tuesday, with Oshoala scoring two goals and providing two assists in the final.

Posting the news on her Instagram page, she dedicated her award to fellow Super Falcons footballer Onome Ebi, calling her “my precious and loving sport mum, my sister and my best friend, who has pushed and encouraged me”.

She described it as a proud moment in her life. “All Gold everything,” she wrote on her Instagram page.

Writing further, she said, “2017 Chinese women’s league award, Best Striker of the Season, (Top Scorer). Thanks to everyone for your support.

Oshoala began her professional career at Liverpool Ladies. She joined the Reds on 23 January 2015.

Liverpool manager, Matt Beard called her “one of the best young players in the world”. Although rumours had linked her with other clubs, she said she was very happy to join Liverpool.

Oshoala missed two months of the 2015 season with a knee injury, as defending champions Liverpool finished seventh of eight teams.

In January 2016 Liverpool reported that a transfer bid from Arsenal Ladies had activated the release clause in Oshoala’s contract and that she was discussing personal terms with the London club.

On 10 February 2017, Chinese club Dalian Quanjian F.C. officially signed Oshoala.
