Tobi Amusan, the world 100m hurdles record holder, has slid eight places from 25th to 33rd in World Athletics’ women’s overall weekly rankings issued ahead of this weekend’s Diamond League final in Eugene, Oregon, USA.

The Nigerian, who was rated sixth in the world at the start of the year and first in her event after winning the World Athletics Championships last year, has also dropped from second to third in the hurdles.

The 26-year-old, who lost her world title last month in Budapest, Hungary, will look to make history this weekend in the Wanda Diamond League.

Amusan will thus not only be looking to win in Oregon and become the second woman in Diamond League history, after Dawn Nelson-Harper, to win a hat-trick of 100m hurdles gold, but also to reclaim her number one ranking in her event.

The Nigerian, who has 1414 total points, will have to run close to her 12.12sec world record run if she is to overtake Olympic champion, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn (with 1437 points), who currently leads the standings, while former world record holder, Kendra Harrison is second with 1420 points.
