Departing Bayer Leverkusen manager, Xabi Alonso, has received the green light from Real Madrid to bring in three new players ahead of the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in June.
According to Madrid Zone (via Marca), Alonso has requested the signings of Trent Alexander-Arnold, a new left-back, and a new centre-back to strengthen the squad before the tournament. The Spanish club has reportedly approved his request.
Alonso, who recently signed a three-year contract with Real Madrid, is set to take over from Carlo Ancelotti as the team’s manager.
He is expected to be in charge when Los Blancos compete in this year’s Club World Cup.
A former Real Madrid player himself, the 43-year-old Spaniard also featured for Liverpool, Bayern Munich, and Real Sociedad during his playing career.
