Akin Olowokere, the new assistant coach of Shooting Stars Sports Club in Ibadan, Oyo State, slumped and died on Monday morning.
Olowokere was one of the newly appointed coaches of 3SC.
As of the time of filing this report, there were no official reports on what caused his death.
Eyewitnesses informed reporters in Ibadan, the state capital, that “he collapsed on the pitch during the team’s Monday morning training session and was rushed to the hospital.”
“He was, however, confirmed dead at the hospital where he was rushed to.”
According to reports, the former Sunshine Stars of Akure player and later tactician collapsed while in action, requiring quick medical attention, and was evacuated to an unidentified hospital.
He was recently introduced as one of the Oluyole Warriors’ coaches after the club severed ties with the Gbenga Ogunbote-led coaching staff.
The soft-spoken coach was a regular player for his state club, Sunshine Stars of Akure, before taking on a coaching role.
He recently worked as an assistant coach for the club, under head coach Edith Agoye.
