The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has announced that the crescent moon that marks the end of Ramadan has been sighted in Nigeria, indicating that Eid-el-Fitr would take place on Sunday, March 30, 2025.
The declaration, made on Saturday night, comes after reports of moon sightings from around the country.
“With the sighting of the moon, Sunday, March 30, 2025, will be the 1st of Shawwal 1446 AH, marking the day for the Eid-el-Fitr celebration,” the Sultan, who doubles as the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, stated.
He commended Muslims on successfully completing the Ramadan fast and encouraged them to carry the values of patience, piety, and charity beyond the holy month.
