Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the incoming president, and his wife Oluremi gave Christians and Muslims in Abuja more than 100,000 food combo packs yesterday.
Dr. Betta Edu, the National Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), made the donations on their behalf.
Edu stated that the intention was to express love to Nigerians during the holy season while speaking at the National Mosque in Abuja.
She urged everyone to pause and pray for the country’s harmony, peace, love, safety, and other blessings.
She said: “The President-elect, Tinubu, and the wife actually asked us to be here to distribute combo packs to Muslim faithful during this period of Ramadan which of course is a period of giving and love.
“We will also reach out to the Christian faithful through different churches within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and its environs. They will be receiving these combo packs in the spirit of the Easter celebration.
“Let us pursue peace, Nigeria belongs to all of us and everyone has a role to play in the nation’s building. We cannot underestimate that role. It’s time to lay aside party politics and face good governance.
“Let us come together as one nation under God to ensure that we see the development that we wish for our children by working together to achieve the objectives, ” she said.
Edu urged Nigerians to support the President-elect, assuring Nigerians that she has no doubt that he would make a difference.
Also, the Director General of, the National Commission for Refugees, Imaan Suleiman-Ibraham, said the gesture was to strengthen harmony among Nigerians who have worked hard in the last few months to ensure a good leader emerged as president of the country.
“It’s very important for us to come together now to pray in order to achieve the Nigeria of our dreams and I believe that Tinubu’s government is going to be for everybody.
“We will be distributing over 100,000 of this max combo pack in the Mosques and churches. They actually contained different food items to Christians for the Easter celebration and to Muslims during the Ramadan fast,” Suleiman-Ibraham said.
Responding, the Director, of Muslim Community Center, Abuja, Salihu Bala, while appreciating the President-elect and his wife for this gesture, assured the delegation that the items donated would be distributed to the neediest people among them in the Mosque.
