Paul Adefarasin, the Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, has reported to the Lagos State Police Command in Ikeja following the circulation of a viral video allegedly showing him holding a firearm during an encounter with a road user in Lagos.
The video, which made rounds on social media last week, showed Adefarasin holding a metallic-looking object while engaging in a verbal exchange with an individual who was recording the incident.
The clip triggered widespread speculation, with many suggesting that the object in his hand was a gun.
In response to the public outcry, Pastor Adefarasin took to his official social media platforms to clarify the incident.
He addressed members of his congregation and described the interpretation of the video as a misunderstanding. He insisted the item was not a weapon and emphasized that he neither threatened nor aimed it at anyone.
He stated: “The public interpretation of the video is a misunderstanding. The object in question was not a weapon, and I did not threaten or aim it at anyone.”
Confirming the pastor’s visit to the police command, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, told journalists, “No one is above the law. Pastor Paul Adefarasin has turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, and is currently being interrogated by detectives.”
CSP Hundeyin further disclosed that an investigation has been launched into the incident, especially considering the video also showed the pastor driving an unregistered vehicle.
“The outcome of the investigation will be made public,” he added.
