Some popular Nigerian pastors teach absolute nonsense – Solomon Buchi

Popular Nigerian influencer Solomon Buchi has berated Nigerian pastors over what he described as teaching “absolute nonsense but with great articulation.”

Buchi made the remarks in a statement he shared on his X page on Saturday.

While urging people to read the Bible and get a better understanding of the word of God, Buchi mentioned that “if you read the Bible a bit more, you may discover that your best preacher is not faithful to the scriptures.”

Despite speaking of being “inspired” by American preacher T.D. Jakes, Buchi stated that “there’s no Nigerian pastor that matches TD Jake’s level of articulation.” However, he noted that TD. Jakes “is more of an inspirational speaker than he is a teacher of the gospel.”

Urging Christians to prioritize learning the scriptures themselves, Buchi urged them to “choose the gospel over sentiments” whenever they realize their “best preacher is teaching fables.”

Buchi’s statement reads, “I’ve never shared this publicly before. I used to follow TD Jakes a lot. Without exaggeration, I listened to 4–5 of his sermons every week for many months. His articulation, mastery of language, and a fine sense of dramatizing his points swayed me.

“He ‘inspired’ me, but when I started reading my Bible a bit more and listening to Zac Ponen, I stopped listening to TD Jakes. I’m not a fan any longer. I believe that he’s more of an inspirational speaker than he is a teacher of the gospel.

“My point is that if you read the Bible a bit more, you may discover that your best preacher is not faithful to the scriptures. They might be genuinely wrong, but wrong is wrong.

“There’s no Nigerian pastor that matches TD Jake’s level of articulation, so it’s very easy for me to spot shallow inspirational speakers parading as gospel preachers.

“I won’t call names of popular Nigerian pastors who teach absolute nonsense but with great articulation. I’m not ready for that, but please read your Bible. Study your Bible. Pray, and there are preachers you’ll outgrow.

“If you realize that your best preacher is teaching fables, please choose the gospel over sentiments. It’s painful to realize that your best teacher is in prior, but our loyalty is first to the scriptures.”
