Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin, founder of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministries, Warri, Delta State, has withdrawn his N1 billion lawsuit against controversial social media critic Martins Otse Vincent, popularly called VeryDarkMan (VDM).

Jeremiah had filed a petition against the social media influencer over defamation and criticism for selling miracle soap and water to his church members.

In a viral Instagram video, VDM chastised Jeremiah for selling the power that he claims God granted him for free to his congregants.

Dissatisfied with the popular activist’s views, Jeremiah, the Delta state-born prophet filed a N1 billion lawsuit against VDM and requested a restraining order accusing him of selling miracle soap and water.

In another viral video, VeryDarkMan responded to the cleric’s complaint by promising to meet with him in court.

He threatened to storm the court with 800 deaf people, 700 blind people, and 36 women looking for the fruit of the womb.

“I am coming to the court with 800 deaf people, 700 blind people, and 36 women who are looking for the fruit of the womb; you must use your healing water and soap to heal all of them in front of the judge.”

However, in a statement on Sunday, the cleric announced his withdrawal of the lawsuit, mentioning he has forgiven the influencer.

“Verydarkman, I, Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin, extend forgiveness to you. I am withdrawing the court case against you. Following the teachings of Jesus, who preached peace and corrected sinners, I forgive you. May you learn from your mistakes and walk in righteousness from now on, my son,” he said.

His “unsolicited” forgiveness has attracted the wrath of Nigerians towards the cleric, with many alleging his miracle products are not efficacious.

Chronicle NG highlights some reactions by Nigerians to his withdrawal of the suit.

Murphy Agbogidi, “God is using VDM to expose the fraud going on in that place. I’ve never seen that man quote a single Bible passage. Every time he claims to be a powerful prophet, but these are charlatans.

“Correct and sound doctrine is crucial to salvation and growth in spiritual maturity. It comes as no surprise that God warns us many times in Scripture to be aware of false teaching. Christians need to be able to recognise false teachers in order to avoid being led down a path that God did not intend.”

Malcolm Alkali, “How can people still believe these fake miracle/prophecy shows? These so-called Prophets exploiting vulnerable people with fake things need to be stopped. One of the reasons why my guy signed out of Christianity.”

Mike, “On a serious note. Mr. Jeremiah doesn’t even look like a man of God. I won’t call his members deluded people because some of them are there out of desperation for a miracle. Now imagine if we have good government, Jeremiah will be a bus driver.”

Douglas Bolarinwa: “This guy should take things easy; all this NIgerian pastors are not sometimes what they are; you can just leave them and let them treat their followers anyhow they like. The more you look, the less you see.”

Nedu, “So all the ‘miracle wonder products’ are all fake. He needs to repay VDM’s money with interest for selling an impotent spiritual product to him.”

Akpan Vincent, “His lawyers have advised him to withdraw the case because he would be rubbished in court, but me too, I will advise the @theverydarkman to press on with his countersuit so we can put a stop to all this charlatans masquerading as men of God.”

Oscar, “This case must go on. These pastors and prophets have so much deceived their members, hiding under the guise of religion, thereby extorting so much money from their congregants. This case must go on.”

Olorogunboy, “The guy needs to do a video and tell us exactly why he is afraid to go to court. It is an indictment on him and NAFDAC. All these guys are fake! I just hope people can wake up and realise that these guys are selling fake products and false hope to them.”

Sam Okwe, “This is so funny. Prophet Jeremiah, so you couldn’t defend the miracle status of your water. You are a big disappointment. I was really looking forward to seeing you disgraced in this trial.”
