    Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday visited Kaduna state following an attack on the Abuja-Kaduna rail line on Monday by bandits.

    Prof. Osinbajo was accompanied by Governor Nasir El-Rufai and other dignitaries to 44 Military Hospital, Kaduna.

    Osinbajo who was headed to Lagos state to attend the 13th Tinubu Colloquium marking the 70th birthday celebration of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu had to detour for an on-site assessment.

    In a tweet by his spokesperson, Laolu Akande, the Vice President wanted to know the extent of damage caused by the attack.

    “On his way to Lagos for the 13th Tinubu Colloquium marking former Lagos State Governor’s 70th birthday, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo had to detour to Kaduna State, this afternoon, on receiving news of the extent of human & material losses occasioned by yesterday’s dastardly attack on the Abuja-Kaduna railway route,” Akande said in his tweet.

    Chronicle NG reported that over 900 passengers were trapped Monday evening following an attack by bandits.

    Speaking at the 44 Military Hospital, the Vice President said, “I am saddened by another mindless terrorist attack on citizens.

    “We must for our nation and their memories fight on and defeat the cowards who unleash terror on those not armed.

    “They will not break our spirits and our resolve. We will prevail and our land will be secure,” Osinbajo said.
