With Donald Trump in the lead, Nigerians have called on Nobel Laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka to rip his United States Green Card.

Giving a seminar at Oxford University, Soyinka said he will cut his Green Card if Trump wins.

“If in the unlikely event he does win, the first thing he’ll do is to say [that] all green-card holders must reapply to come back into the US. Well, I’m not waiting for that,” said Soyinka, who is scholar-in-residence at New York University’s Institute of African American Affairs this autumn. “The moment they announce his victory, I will cut my green card myself and start packing up.”

On Twitter, Nigerians urged Wole Soyinka to keep to his words and tear up his US Green Card.

    Here are some tweets below:

    Dear Uncle Wole Soyinka,
Can I come & help you tear your green card? You might be a little too shocked to tear it properly.
