Shakirat Oluwatosin Raji has described the greeting culture of the Yoruba as hypocritical.
In a statement on X on Monday, Raji lamented that the culture of addressing a younger boy or girl with the title ‘uncle/aunty’ by a woman married into the family breeds disrespect.
Calling it the height of “hypocrisy”, Raji noted that such a culture is not only detestable but also ‘nauseating’.
“One of the Yoruba cultures I hate with passion is calling a small girl or boy aunty or uncle just because I married into your family when I am way older than them.
“It irritates me! This is the height of hypocrisy for me,” Raji stated.
