British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak talked with Djibouti’s President Ismail Omar Guelleh on Friday, and both urged a swift ceasefire in Sudan according to Sunak’s office.
In a statement to the media, a spokesperson for Sunak stated that they had decided to keep working together to de-escalate the violence and safeguard people, especially our countrymen.
After over a week of violence between its forces and a rival paramilitary organisation, the Sudanese army earlier announced that it has agreed to a three-day ceasefire beginning on Friday to allow civilians to observe the Muslim festival of Eid Al-Fitr.
