    Two OOU undergrads abducted in Ogun state released

    Two undergraduate students at the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) who were abducted by gunmen on 15 March 2021 have been released, the state government said on Tuesday.

    Governor Dapo Abiodun confirmed their release in a series of tweets thanked the Nigerian Police Force and other security agencies for the safe of the students.

    “This is to announce that we have secured the release of Precious Adeyemo and Abiola Oyefule – both OOU students recently kidnapped in Ayetoro.

    “I appreciate the efforts of the Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Police and other security agencies involved in the exercise that will now see the ladies reunited with their respective families,” he said on Twitter.

    Chronicle NG had reported that the two students were abducted from their Ayetoro campus, Ayetoro, Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State on Monday.

    It was gathered that the incident occurred at about 9:00 pm on Sunday, when the suspected bandits stormed Igbole Aibo Quarter area of Ayetoro, shooting sporadically.

    Residents, who spoke under the condition of anonymity, said the gunmen, captured and abducted the two students who were said to be returning home at the time.

    The abducted female students have been identified as Adeyemo Oluwaseun Precious (300 level Forestry and Wildlife Management) and Oyefule Oluwatosin Abisola (300 level, Agricultural Economics).
