President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Lagos State from Abuja ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
Tinubu is in his home state to celebrate the Sallah holidays with family, friends, and well-wishers.
Ajuri Ngelale, the presidential spokesman, had previously stated that the President would observe the occasion with prayers and meditation on how to forward Nigeria’s transformation in accordance with his Renewed Hope Agenda.
Chronicle NG reports that the Federal Government has declared Monday, June 17, and Tuesday, June 18, 2024, as public holidays to commemorate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir festival.
In a statement issued on Friday by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Aishetu Ndayako, the minister, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, was described as congratulating the Muslim Ummah members at home and in the Diaspora on the occasion.
Tunji-Ojo urged the Muslim Ummah to continue to embrace the spirit of peace, kindness, and sacrifice demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him), as well as to use the occasion to pray for national unity, prosperity, and stability.
“The minister reiterated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration was committed to safeguarding the lives and property of all Nigerians.
“He further enjoined all Muslim faithful and Nigerians in general to support, cooperate, and join hands with the president in his sustained efforts to diversify the economy and progressively accelerate the pace of the nation’s economic recovery.
“While wishing the Muslim Ummah a happy Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the Minister advised all Nigerians to take responsibility in the resolve to hand over a prosperous Nigeria to the nation’s children.”
