Three persons have been reportedly burnt alive by bandits during an attack on some communities in the Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto state.
It was gathered that the bandits invaded the communities on Wednesday, set some residents ablaze.
Reports say that police officers stationed at the area were missing. It is still unclear if they were killed, kidnapped or injured.
Two persons were shot dead, including a woman while three others who were hiding in a grain store were set ablaze.
One of the victims died instantly while the remaining two have been hospitalised.
The attack was confirmed to newsmen by Sa’idu Ibrahim, member representing Sabon Birni East constituency at the State House of Assembly.
Ibrahim stated that bandits now target security formations in the villages due to their percieved success in previous attacks on military camps.
“They are now looking for where security operatives are stationed because their morale was boosted by their recent attack on a military formation at Dama where many soldiers, policemen and Civil Defence officers were killed.
“So, they are now attacking places where they know military, police or other paramilitary are camping.
“They shot two persons, including a woman and burnt three others who hid in a grain store; one of them died instantly while the other two are receiving treatment in the hospital,” he said.
