A father of nine children, simply identified as Mr. Charles, reportedly committed suicide in Delta State’s Jeddo town.
Chronicle NG gathered that the gruesome tragedy occurred in the early hours of Monday.
The man apparently killed himself after drinking pesticide.
According to sources familiar with the incident, Mr. Charles, who lived in the Jeddo town of Okpe Local Government Area, drank the poison at home before going to his in-law’s house in adjacent Ugbokodo, where he eventually passed away.
Before the suicide, Charles, a Jeddo Community Vigilante member, reportedly had a disagreement with his wife, pleading with her not to leave him.
The wife, however, apparently refused to listen to his plea.
Although Charles did not leave a suicide note, empty insecticide bottles were purportedly located in his pockets.
SP Bright Edafe, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Delta State Command, could not be reached for comment on the incident at the time of filing this report since he did not answer his phone when our correspondent called him.
