Six people were killed in an accident on the Imesi-Ile Highway, according to the Osun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
In a statement released on Sunday in Osogbo, the state capital, Sector Commander Henry Benamesia was quoted as saying this.
According to Benamesia, a head-on collision between two automobiles occurred on Saturday at 9:44 p.m. as a result of one of the vehicles’ brakes failing, killing six people.
On Imesi-Ile hill, he said that a speeding articulated vehicle crashed with another blue commercial truck and caused casualties.
“The Nigerian Police transported five dead victims to the Osun University Teaching Hospital (UNIOSUN) before the FRSC squad showed up.
“The last dead victim was trapped under the truck, and we were able to use a machine to remove the trapped body from one of the vehicles,” Benamesia said.
He said that there were 17 people engaged in the accident, 11 of whom were unharmed, and six of whom died.
In order to avoid any kind of accident, he urged drivers to exercise defensive driving.
Benamesia, however, cautioned motorists to exercise caution behind the wheel and to check the condition of their vehicles before starting any travel.
