A building in Adeola Odeku, Victoria Island, Lagos has been rocked by an explosion, the Lagos Rapid Response Squad said on Tuesday.

The fire reportedly started from a building on the street that had a generator explosion and spilled onto the road resulting in the death of several persons.

“RRS vehicle on patrol at Adeola Odeku was this morning involved in a fire incident,” the police said in a tweet.

“Although lives were lost in the incident but our officers escaped with injuries. While we pray for the repose of the souls of those whose lives were lost in the incident, we appreciate those who have been calling and sending messages to our Commander, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi,” the police added.

A resident who witnessed the explosion said that the incident affected some vehicles and other buildings around the premises.
