The Rivers State government has issued a note of warning to striking doctors in the state to resume work in the next 24 hours or risk being sacked.

The striking doctors, who are members of the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), joined the ongoing national strike to protest unpaid allowances and benefits of its members.

However, the government of Rivers state has said that it will not condone any strike action as the state government is not owing salaries.

The position of the state government was made known by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Tammy Danagogo.

He also added that the striking doctors may forfeit their salaries or risk being sacked if they failed to resume in 24 hours.
