DIG Hashimu Argungu (retd.), Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), has warned that any candidate caught attempting to bribe or compromise the ongoing admission process into the Police Academy, Wudil, Kano, will be immediately disqualified.
The warning was issued during a supervisory visit to the academy, where he led a high-powered delegation to oversee the 2024 Post-JAMB admission screening process.
A statement on Wednesday by the commission’s spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, said the PSC chairman warned candidates against engaging in unethical practices, stating, “Any candidate negotiating to pay money for consideration should be weeded out. The process must run on merit and transparency.”
Ani quoted the PSC Chairman, saying, “The commission will ensure the academy is run on merit and fairness, and accountability and transparency must be their watchword.”
Argungu also examined the academy’s moot court, clinic, library, lecture theatres, and screening centres.
During the examination, he noted various concerns about failing computers and ordered quick repairs to ensure a smooth screening process.
Argungu applauded the academy’s leadership, notably its Commandant, AIG Abubakar Sadiq, for using novel techniques for the screening process, such as the utilisation of computer-based testing.
He emphasised that the transparent approach enables candidates to check their findings immediately after submission, ensuring accountability.
