The Edo State Police Command has rescued the Onogie of Udo-Eguare, a traditional ruler in Edo Central, who was kidnapped on February 3.
CSP Moses Yamu, the command’s Public Relations Officer, said in a statement released on Saturday in Benin, the state capital, that the rescue operation occurred on Friday at 6 p.m.
He claimed that the rescue was made possible by continued police efforts, which were assisted by the Edo State Government, vigilantes, hunters, and other well-meaning inhabitants of the state.
According to Yamu, the state’s Commissioner of Police, CP Betty Otimenyin, promised to recover the kidnapped traditional ruler, and her team worked relentlessly to meet that promise.
He stated that the command praised the state government and attributed the victory to the governor, Monday Okpebholo, who provided logistical support.
“The command equally appreciates the vigilantes, hunters, and other well-meaning residents of the state for their support so far.
“The general public is assured that the command’s commitment to the fight against crime remains unshaken,” Yamu said.
