The Delta Police Command paraded three suspected kidnappers and retrieved four AK-47 firearms on Monday.
DSP Bright Edafe, the command’s Public Relations Officer, while parading the suspects at the police headquarters in Asaba said that abduction is a serious offence in the state.
“You will recall that a few days ago, the Commissioner of Police, Wale Abass, personally briefed you on the summary of the Command’s activities and achievements from July 1, 2023, to September 30, 2023,” he stated.

“It is my great pleasure to inform you all today that the policing strategies emplaced by the Acting IGP Kayode Egbetokun are paying off handsomely in Delta State, as the command is experiencing a harvest of achievements.
“This recent achievement has demonstrated the Command’s preparedness for effective policing during the ember months and beyond.
“Kidnapping being a crime of concern in the State has been dealt a huge blow through our swift policing interventions.
“It could be recalled that about two months ago, the Command arrested some suspected kidnappers, including one Ese-Oghene Ezekiel, who masterminded the kidnap of his brother (Name withheld) and members of his household at Oha community, Okpe LGA.
“One Regina Ogana, the brother’s wife was shot dead in the process. The initial success notwithstanding, the Commissioner of Police gave the Divisional Police Officer, Oreorokpe Division marching order to ensure every other person involved in the crime was brought to book”
According to Edafe, on October 13, 2023, the Divisional Police Officer, Oreorokpe, mobilised men from the Divisional Anti-Crime Patrol squad and stormed Ofuoma in Ughelli North LGA, arresting two male suspects, James Aboyo, 21, and Solomon Gbolode.
Edafe went on to say that the crew searched the premises and hideout, where one Blessing Deco 22, was detained, while other gang members who saw the police team fled.
The suspects are currently assisting police with their investigation, while a manhunt for the gang’s fleeing members is underway.
Edafe stated that among the goods confiscated from the suspects are four AK-47 rifles, a pump action gun, five packs of improvised bombs, and 58 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.
